FORMULATION CHEMIST

A formulation chemist position has become available in a rapidly growing New Zealand Company located in Howick, Auckland. This Company is looking for a chemist with experience in natural skincare product development to assist a small team of passionate creative problem solvers to break new and innovative ground in natural skincare. The successful applicant will be part of the complete product development process from concept to market launch and post market improvements and stability.

Key responsibilities

  • Formulating new products to the marketer’s brief, in consultation with a managing scientist.
  • Conducting stability trials and sensory trials

Key Attributes

  • Tertiary Qualified in Chemistry, Pharmacy and/or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation

Product Development Coordinator – R&D

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct samples and batch evaluations, and maintain Batch room.
  • Develop and follow internal procedures.
  • Perform QC checks to ensure product consistency and keep records.
  • Maintain accurate database of complete products – ingredient list,
    formula, and stability testing and market sales.
  • Track and update status of new products.
  • Communicate with manufactures and formulators.  Maintain follow-ups of all product samples and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Search and understand available regulatory bodies’ information (TGA and ACO) as well as communicate-with and submit applications.
  • Conduct research for new trends, concepts, materials and innovations within the industry.
  • Brief writing of new products.
  • Insure overseas product registration database is up to date -Write initial product information (i.e. features & benefits) for sales training materials and marketing use.
  • Assist in the proofing of all catalogue and marketing materials.

We Are Looking for Someone Who

  • Has a Chemistry Degree or a Diploma in Personal Care Formulation or other relevant science related field.
  • Has a background in the Cosmetic Industry.
  • Has knowledge in product development and project management processes.
  • Is organised has ability to collaborate with different teams effectively.
  • Has strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
  • Has creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain performance.

Quality Control Chemist

A junior level full time quality control chemist has opened in an established family owned cosmetic manufacturer in the beautiful Northern Rivers Area of New South Wales.  We are leaders in organic skincare formulation and are looking for someone with an eye for quality and attention to detail.

Role Description

  • Preparing Product samples from a given formula
  • Making & setting up approved formulas for stability testing.
  • Performing and recording daily stability testing.
  • Preparing 6 & 9 monthly stability reports.
  • Quality Control on Raw Materials, Packaging and Componentry.
  • Maintaining Product Retentions
  • Data Collection and analysis of site’s environmental conditions as part of our sustainability program
  • Some Formulation Work

Requirements

  • Basic Chemistry Background
  • Attention to detail, especially for quality control purposes
  • Able to follow instruction consistently
  • Knowledge of GMP and ISO practices.
  • Ability to work in a team

R&D Chemist – Cosmetics/Pharmaceuticals

We are currently seeking to appoint an R&D Chemist to join our team in the development, preparation and manufacture of trial batches of various pharmaceutical, cosmetic and veterinary products. This role will also be supporting our manufacturing process by providing technical and troubleshooting advice to our compounding team.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulation and preparation of high end products for the marketplace.
  • Perform validation and testing of formulations to ensure adequacy, or determine the need for reformulation.
  • Provision of support and advice to our manufacturing team
  • Process development.
  • Preparation of pilot batch and scale up of lab batching.
  • Applying judgment to analytical and sensory tests.
  • Preparation of reports and documenting results of tests and analyses.
  • Implementation of standards as required by TGA, APVMA, ACO and GMP.

 Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation or other relevant science related field.
  • A passion for product development and process optimisation.
  • An understanding of GMP
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to write technical documents and impart knowledge to people with varying levels of understanding.
  • The ability to make smart decisions based on sound scientific analysis.
