Jen is a science communicator and formulation chemist. She had a bit of a round about journey into the cosmetics sector. Completing her undergrad with a double degree in Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences, and Zoology, with a minor in music performance from the University of Guelph.
While in her final year, she started her career as a science writer in the health and cosmetics space. Starting work with a natural health distribution company, she quickly realized how big of an issue misinformation is in the nutraceutical and cosmetics space. Jen went back to school to do her graduate studies in Formulation Chemistry, left her career and launched The Eco Well in 2016. Since then, she’s interviewed hundreds of scientists from diverse fields for her podcast and has launched several larger scale scicomm conferences, including our Green Beauty Night series. Jen is also the previous executive director of The Eco Market, a Canadian environmental organization.
Today, she works as a cosmetic chemist, where she primarily helps brands develop formulas for market, public speaker and director of The Eco Well. She also volunteers locally in Ontario, Canada as a mentor for start-up businesses, and judge for pitch competitions, as well as with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists as a member of the Next Gen advisory committee.
