I can’t explain in words enough how much I have learned from this course, from very zero knowledge in personal care formulation to become a qualified Cosmetic Chemist. The course is very comprehensive, and well designed. It teaches me not just only how to put the ingredients together to create a finished product, but also the science behind that. There are plenty of hands-on practical sessions that develop my formulating skills and fulfill my understanding of the theory parts. I enjoyed every moment spent in the course (even feeling a bit lost when it’s finished). Although I already had some experience in the field of cosmetic formulation, I was looking for a comprehensive study of the principles of cosmetic formulation. The Diploma of Personal Care Formulation helped me to have a systematic approach to formulating any product instead of relying on trial and error. It also helped me to get familiar with different raw materials than what I’m used to working with and have an extensive library of suppliers and brochures. I highly recommend this Diploma for anyone who’s looking for a career as a Cosmetic Chemist as it’ll provide real-life experience (very different from what you’ll find in any textbook).
I completed a Diploma of Personal Care Formulation through IPCS out of personal interest. I wanted to learn how the cosmetic products are made, what goes into them and what processes are involved. I don't work in the industry and was a little sceptical whether I would be able to manage the course content, but was positively surprised how well the course and the study materials are designed. Belinda's lectures are very informative and detailed, and study materials comprehensive. The course itself isn't just theory but also involves actual formulating, which was my favourite part. I would definitely recommend studying with IPCS to anyone regardless of their level of industry knowledge.

Institute of Personal Care Science (IPCS) is the best cosmetic science school out there! I'd made my own DIY products for around 10 years before I was able to attend IPCS. I also took Formula Botanica and School of Natural Skincare courses but I still didn't understand how to create my own products from scratch that actually had a point of difference. I used their formulas and tweaked them a little bit but I didn't know the basic chemistry principles on how and why you should combine different ingredients for different cosmetic applications.
I took the Diploma of Personal Care Formulation course in IPCS and I actually learned more from the beginners course (the first introduction to the diploma) than I had with the previous 10 years. The materials are very good and you don't have to be excellent in chemistry to understand the concepts. That doesn't mean that the course is easy. You have to put in the time and effort to succeed but the quality of the course is excellent. Attending IPCS was definitely one of the best decisions I've made in my life and I'm extremely grateful for my tutors! I definitely recommend this to everyone who wants to start a career in cosmetic formulation or to launch their own skincare/haircare/makeup brand.
I was struggling a lot to understand my niche or concept throughout the years because I didn’t want to launch an average product which doesn’t have any competitive edge. With the help of IPCS I’ve finally found it and I’m fully dedicated to launching my brand soon.
The IPCS Certificate in Cosmetic Regulatory Essentials was an invaluable experience for me! As someone just beginning my career in regulatory affairs and in the cosmetics industry, I had very little knowledge or experience of the regulations. This certificate program has allowed me to excel in my position and help my company tremendously. I have worked with developing aerosol hair styling products for some time already but completing the Certificate in Advanced Hair Formulations has given me more insights to a wider range of hair products.

In the terms of my study, they have been able to take me from reading and formulating basic formulations on the batch sheet to making formulas start to finish through viscosity and stability testing. It’s not only about making the formulas. You are able to see how account managers interact with their Chemist, how they analyse products and relentlessly pursue a fantastic formulation.
My supervisor was able to train me from a completely theoretical understanding of formulation to being able to confidently formulate products. He is a fantastic trainer and I looked forward to going to work every day. He has given me the confidence to go and start my formulation journey and even gave me tips on how to begin with the equipment I have at my house.

I have just finished my Diploma of Personal Care Formulation program with IPCS and want to recommend it to everyone who wants to build a solid competence in Cosmetic Chemistry. This is a good foundation you can start from because you will learn pretty much everything: variety of formulas, plenty of ingredients and their use - from regulations to chemical structures of your materials.
The course was well-structured, clear for understanding, with prompt, informative, and supportive feedback. The flexibility of the schedule was also very helpful so you are not stressed out.

I finally received my Diploma as a Cosmetic Chemist and I am absolutely ecstatic! It has been a challenging yet very fulfilling journey, and I am deeply grateful to the Institute of Personal Care Science for walking with me and helping me attain my lifelong dream to become a Certified Cosmetic Chemist. The Diploma of Personal Care Formulation has prepared me to become a professional Cosmetic Chemist, qualified to advise on high-quality cosmetic treatments and personal care products. I now know how to advise on cosmetic products, formulate personalised products and improve sales in cosmetics with online marketing campaigns. This Diploma course was very interesting , challenging and fun. It has taught me to understand other brands’ products better and it’s more meaningful now when I read their ingredient list and am able to imagine what was used, how it was formulated and manufactured.
Troubleshooting problems that arises when I’m formulating was one of my biggest issues and that was one of the reasons why I applied for this Diploma. Knowledge from studying with IPCS has helped greatly with this issue. I am now able to choose the right ingredients for different type of products with confidence. This course has helped me understand the science of ingredients and its interaction with the skin. The modules have been broken down to simplest forms that makes assimilation easy. The tutors were very accessible and helpful. I feel more confident, not only as a formulator but as a Cosmetic Chemist that can now proffer solutions to when it comes to cosmetic formulations.
Even thought I have worked for 7 years in the cosmetic industry, my job is not in direct contact with cosmetic formulations because I am more concerned with the quality and regulation of cosmetics. The Diploma of Personal Care Formulation has exposed me to in-depth knowledge in specialty formulations and the right amount of discipline I need to achieve my goals in the beauty industry.
Prior to studying the Diploma of Personal Care Formulation I would create skincare following other people’s formulas. I now have the skills and confidence to create my own personalised formulas and have successfully launched my own skincare label, Botanical Skincare Lab. This would not have been possible without the learnings gained from the Institute of Personal Care Science. I loved every minute of my studies.
Studying with IPCS has been the best study experience for me. The whole study program is perfectly structured (you can achieve total flexibility and deal with your life, job and studies at the same time), all information is presented through the lens of practice which is very useful because you do not overload your brain with unnecessary information. Before undergoing my Diploma of Personal Care Formulation, I was wholesaling all my cosmetics from private label skincare companies for my business. After starting my studies, I grew more confident in developing my own formulations and manufacturing them, while undergoing basic stability testing.

Studying my Diploma opened my eyes to a whole new world of cosmetic ingredients. I was a firm believer in google when it came to researching synthetic ingredients and how many google documents stated synthetics are “dangerous”. IPCS taught me not to be afraid to using synthetic ingredients and that they are perfectly safe to use in any cosmetic product.

I have just started the diploma and I am planning to launch my brand in August. I am super glad that I decided to take the course. I am only halfway through first module and I was able to apply a lot of the things I learnt to the brand, for example how to have correct claims on your product, how to evaluate safety of your ingredients and much more. The course really started with the most important aspect of cosmetics which is your end customer and then would go into formulation, compared to other courses where we jump into formulation and learn about regulation and safety later. This has been an eye-opening course for me.
I have completed my Diploma in Personal Care Formulation with IPCS. I am now working as Cosmetic Formulation Chemist and Director Digital Marketing in Neophar Skin Sciences. It was a comprehensive one-year Diploma that had the right mix of theory and practice which has given me a great head start in the cosmetology industry. I am working on developing new formulations as well as improving on existing formulations in the organization and can promote products more confidently now. I would like to thank the Student Support Team and all my trainers who were extremely supportive throughout the course.

I worked for the Russian local cosmetics manufacturer as a SEO specialist and a Digital Marketing Manager. I was promoting the company’s products from scratch, from the website developing and succeeded in it. Now these cosmetic products can be found on the product range of the federal pharmacy chains, on the majority of the marketplaces and online-stores. These cosmetics have now become known and available for customers across the whole Russia.
The main point of growth for me was in boosting proficiency in cosmetics. I wanted to understand about the budgeting of the cosmetic manufacturing, advantages and disadvantages of certain ingredients, cosmetic marketing and distribution etc.
Now I feel confident at both the cosmetics manufacturing and budgeting and digital marketing, SEO and PPC. My new qualification now makes my skills much more in demand than before I had the Cosmetic Brand Management qualification, so now I am busy rewriting my profiles on the jobhunting websites and creating a new portfolio.
I have left my company and am going to find new impressive projects soon.

It enabled me to gain proper knowledge, skills and even practical knowledge about ingredients, compliance, claims, safety procedures and other manufacturing methods, as well as selection of materials whether it is for natural, organic or synthetic products and microbial testing. The course is extremely informative. Documents and study materials are easily accessible and structured; not at all complicated. Every topic has been covered in detail. I can’t explain in words enough how much I have learned from this course, from very zero knowledge in personal care formulation to become a qualified Cosmetic Chemist. The course is very comprehensive, and well designed. It teaches me not just only how to put the ingredients together to create a finished product, but also the science behind that. There are plenty of hands-on practical sessions that develop my formulating skills and fulfill my understanding of the theory parts. I enjoyed every moment spent in the course (even feeling a bit lost when it’s finished). I have a background in nursing and completed 2 university degrees and can confidently say that this course is “a true college study”. I am so proud to be an IPCS graduate.
I wanted to complete the Diploma of Personal Care Formulation because as a sufferer of allergies, intolerances and other ailments I wanted to learn the ins and outs of making my own personal care products.
Now that I have graduated and have confidence in what to do, I have started my own small at-home online business where I run soap-making classes and also sell bath and body products that are all homemade and handmade with love.
