Personal Care Manufacturing and Marketing Company with Products sold in the domestic and international markets. The Company is based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and is looking for a Formulations Chemist to join our Small Technical Team in an Innovative and Dynamic Family Company.
Ideally the Successful applicant will have experience in formulation of Body Care Creams and Liquids that the applicant has scaled up to full production and has made it successfully to Market.

Role & Responsibilities
- Develop new formulations for Personal Care Products
- Develop stability testing protocols for new products
- Reformulate and improve existing formulas
- Responsible for up scaling New Formulations to full scale production
- Developing and maintaining SOPs for new products and maintaining existing SOP’s
- Have a passion for developing new products

R&D Trainee

We are seeking a R&D Trainee to assist R&D Chemists in assessment of raw materials and development of new products for our retail customers. The role requires conducting product testing (QA/QC) for approximately one day each week to become familiar with and proficient at carrying out the standard test methods and procedures that this requires.
Summary of duties:
- Conduct assessments and review of new and alternate raw materials.
- Assist to maintain a Raw Material Database
- Periodically review suitability of current suppliers and raw materials.
- Analyse competitor products and present results to Sales.
- Organise stability programs of production samples and compile reports for customers.
- Prepare samples for lab standards, evaluation by customers, external testing etc.
- Provide information and any other needed support for the department.
- Assist in any other role required for the business, as delegated by manager.
- Assist in process development and provide assistance to Production and Quality departments.
The successful applicant will have:
- B.Sc. in Science OR Diploma of Personal Care Formulation with 0 – 5 years industrial experience.
- Demonstrable capability in Good Laboratory Practice.
- Attention to detail and good organisation skills.
- Excellent teamwork with ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication skills both up and down command chain.
- Motivation to learn and to understand the technology that is applicable to the products.

QA Chemist Fulltime
Central Coast NSW
100% Australian family-owned contract manufacturer offering a full range of manufacturing, packaging and product development services in a number of non-food areas with facilities located just over one hour north of Sydney on the Central Coast of NSW. We have a well-established delivery network throughout Australia and are now expanding into international markets.
The Quality Assurance chemist is responsible for:
Chemical, instrumental, microbial and physical analysis of various materials used and generated from all phases of manufacturing or other handling process, determining if those meets the standards or requirements, with the goal of clearing conforming products for approval and Trouble shooting in case of non-conforming bulk solutions. QA chemists employ a variety of methods that can vary, but generally require basic lab-work skills and thorough understanding of chemical testing equipment and processes. This role requires excellent knowledge of current GMP requirements with a large focus on OGSM, owning, executing, reviewing and reporting of process documents for BV Laboratory and compounding Operations.
Essential:
- Degree in Science, preferably in chemistry or chemistry related disciplines
- Demonstrable capability in Good Laboratory Practice.

- minimum of 3 years' experience in laboratory environments
- Solid experience in transferring knowledge into a production environment in a commercially viable way
- Practical work experience within an analytical environment with an emphasis on instrumentation and Wet chemistry.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Comprehensive supervised product testing, including stability testing
- Running the stability program - checking all samples in each incubator every week, taking the pH & viscosity and documenting all results in appropriate spreadsheets.
- Maintaining stocks of all ingredients in the lab and ordering more ingredient samples & lab equipment when needed
- To perform experiments / tests and documenting results
- To assist with the Sensory Testing program
- Make lab batches of cosmetic products (under supervision)
- Packaging, labelling and organising all samples ready for testing or other purposes as directed
- Ingredient research and documenting of potential new raw materials
What we are ideally looking for
- Tertiary qualification in science e.g. Diploma of Personal Care Formulation (may be currently studying) or proven relevant industry experience
- 1 years' experience working within a laboratory environment
- Demonstrated experience in the science of skin care (would be beneficial but not necessary)
- Knowledge of relevant technologies
- Knowledge of formulation development would be beneficial but not necessary
