What makes African Naturalistas and Pureformula Innovations special:

What started as a personal mission to address hair problems faced by women of African descent has blossomed into a globally recognized brand that has changed the landscape of natural hair care.

In 2011, I started African Naturalistas was born out of a desire to cater specifically to the needs of African women struggling with their hair.

I became a a Certified Trichologist and got my certification in Advanced Cosmetic Scientist from Institute of Personal Care Science, Australia. I embarked on a journey to create products tailored to the unique challenges faced by women with textured hair. This mission became personal, not just as a business, but as a response to the overwhelming demand for effective, science-backed solutions to hair issues like dryness, breakage, and scalp disorders.

As the Founder and CEO of African Naturalistas, I have spent over 13 years crafting a hair care line that blends innovation with natural ingredients to bring health, vitality, and confidence back to the crowns of women all over the world. Our products are carefully formulated in our NAFDAC-approved factory in Lagos, Nigeria, ensuring that they meet the highest quality standards. Today, African Naturalistas has become synonymous with high-quality, reliable hair care solutions that celebrate African beauty.

Under my leadership, African Naturalistas has expanded beyond just products. Through my role as a Certified Trichologist, I treat and manage over 50 hair loss issues and scalp disorders in our Hair Clinic. My desire to impact the hair care industry also led me to freely share my knowledge on platforms like my YouTube channel, Ask The Trichologist, where I address pressing hair care concerns.

One of the biggest milestones was the global expansion of our brand. By embracing e-commerce and establishing an online store in the USA, African Naturalistas' products now reach thousands of customers worldwide. This ability to scale our operations has allowed us to be part of the natural hair movement internationally.

As my career evolved, so did African Naturalistas. Today, we don't just offer hair care products but also focus on Hair Coaching, Hair Regimens, Masterclasses, and Consultations, ensuring that our clients receive holistic, long-term solutions for their hair care. I further innovated the industry with the launch of The Good Hair Tribe, an ed-tech-driven company providing hair literacy and coaching to over 100 members. Through this platform, I have certified hair coaches worldwide, revolutionizing the business model for hair care experts.

My career achievements also extend into the realm of manufacturing. Understanding the struggles small businesses face in creating their own product lines, I founded Pureformula Innovations, a Hair Care Private Labeling company. This business is a gamechanger for entrepreneurs looking to launch their own hair care brands without the huge overhead costs, providing them with top-tier manufacturing infrastructure and expertise.

From addressing hair challenges at the individual level to impacting the global hair care industry, my journey with African Naturalistas is a testament to hard work, persistence, and a deep commitment to bringing real solutions to the table. This success story continues to unfold as I expand into new markets, launch innovative products, and empower women to embrace their natural beauty, one healthy strand at a time.

How have your studies helped progress:

I am deeply grateful to the Institute of Personal Care Science for equipping me with the appropriate knowledge and skills in Cosmetic Science that have significantly contributed to the success of my career and my brand, African Naturalistas. I had started formulating and selling products before I decided to get more education in this area. However, completing my Advanced Cosmetic Science Certification was a transformative experience, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the science behind effective hair care formulations.

With the knowledge gained from the program, I was able to scale my business from local production to a globally recognized brand, delivering safe and effective products to thousands of customers worldwide.

Thanks to the comprehensive education I received at the Institute, I now confidently oversee the formulation of our entire product range in our factory, ensuring that our products meet the highest industry standards. The skills I developed have also enabled me to launch Pureformula Innovations, a Hair Care Private Labeling company, where I help other entrepreneurs bring their hair care brands to life with quality formulations.
